Union Minister and BJP leader JP Nadda launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the INDIA bloc’s protest rally in Delhi on November 1. Nadda accused Gandhi of using the demonstration to advance his political interests and attempting to tarnish India’s image. He described the Opposition’s approach as a model based on alleged falsehoods, rumours and disorder, and asserted that an agenda of “regime change” would not succeed in India.
BJP Leader Claims Rally Could Disrupt Delhi’s Economy
Nadda alleged that the Opposition’s objective was to bring Delhi to a standstill and create an atmosphere of unrest. He claimed that the rally could cause traders and business owners losses of around ₹10,000 crore. He further accused the Opposition of using the banner of democracy to create instability, damage the economy and undermine an elected government. These figures and allegations were part of Nadda’s political remarks.
Nadda Questions Choice of November 1 for the Protest
Raising questions over the date of the rally, Nadda said the Congress should apologise to the Sikh community over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He questioned why the Opposition had chosen November 1 for its demonstration and accused Rahul Gandhi of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community. Nadda also alleged that the Gandhi family had not apologised to Sikhs over the riots.
‘Opposition Wants to Remove an Elected Government’
Nadda alleged that the Opposition was attempting to remove a democratically elected government at the behest of foreign forces. Referring to the rally at Ramlila Maidan, he described it as a planned attempt to create disorder in the name of democracy. He claimed that the protest had four objectives: hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community, creating unrest in Delhi, affecting traders during the festive season and damaging India’s international image.
Nadda Lists Four Stages of Rahul Gandhi’s Politics
In his attack on Rahul Gandhi, Nadda outlined what he called the Congress leader’s political model. According to Nadda, its four stages involve spreading alleged falsehoods and rumours, creating disorder on the streets, damaging the country’s economy and attempting to destabilise an elected government with support from foreign forces. These remarks came amid the INDIA bloc’s protest against alleged electoral irregularities and its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
