Delhi Police has arrested 944 people and taken preventive action against another 788 during a coordinated two-day crackdown on organised cybercrime conducted on October 28 and 29. The operation, named CyHawk 6.0, targeted suspected members of cybercrime networks operating across multiple states and Union Territories. According to police, the estimated amount involved in the cases is around ₹479 crore.

Raids Conducted Across 17 States and Five Union Territories
The sixth edition of Operation CyHawk involved 283 police teams conducting searches across 17 states and five Union Territories. Police said the crackdown followed weeks of research and technical analysis aimed at identifying different links in cybercrime networks. The targets included suppliers of mule bank accounts, agents involved in fraudulent SIM cards and point-of-sale devices, phishing operations, illegal call centres, app operators and individuals suspected of transferring or withdrawing money obtained through fraud.

536 New FIRs Registered, Action Taken in 1,032 Cases
According to the police briefing, the operation resulted in the registration of 536 new First Information Reports (FIRs). Including previously registered cases taken up for investigation, police said action was taken in a total of 1,032 cases. Teams also acted on 4,002 complaints associated with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). Investigators used complaint hotspots, technical information and bank transaction data to identify suspects and alleged facilitators. In one district-level case, a bank manager and four bank agents were arrested over alleged links to fraud involving mule accounts.

Focus on Fraudulent SIMs, Illegal Call Centres and Money Transfers
The crackdown also targeted networks involved in procuring and supplying SIM cards, operating SIM boxes and running illegal call centres. Police said some groups functioned through organised supply chains, with separate individuals allegedly responsible for arranging bank accounts, making fraudulent calls, operating applications and moving or withdrawing the proceeds. The methods under investigation reportedly included ATM withdrawals, cheque transactions and cryptocurrency transfers.

Digital Arrest Scams Also Under Investigation
When asked whether people suspected of involvement in digital arrest scams had been arrested, a police official confirmed that such suspects were among those apprehended. Delhi Police said the leads gathered during the operation would be pursued further. Additional district-wise information is expected in a subsequent police press release. The allegations against those arrested will be subject to investigation and the legal process.
