A disturbing case of alleged human trafficking has emerged from Gumla district in Jharkhand, where a 15-year-old girl was reportedly lured away from her home on the promise of a job and later sold to an elderly man in Rajasthan for ₹20,000. According to the complaint, a woman from the girl's own village allegedly promised her a better life and employment opportunities before taking her to Delhi. The minor was subsequently handed over to another woman, who allegedly took her to Rajasthan and sold her to an elderly man. The incident has once again raised concerns about the trafficking of vulnerable women and children from rural areas in search of employment.

Two Women Allegedly Involved in Trafficking
According to the victim's statement, the incident began in July when a woman identified as Jatri Oraon took her to Delhi on the pretext of arranging a job. There, she was allegedly handed over to a woman named Sunita, who later took the girl to Rajasthan. The minor alleged that Sunita sold her to an elderly man for ₹20,000. She reportedly remained with the man for nearly three months. During this period, she was allegedly confined against her will and subjected to sexual exploitation. The girl also alleged that whenever she resisted the abuse, she was assaulted. The elderly man reportedly presented the arrangement as a marriage, despite the girl being a minor.

Girl Escapes and Returns Home, Police Begin Investigation
The girl eventually managed to escape from the man's custody and began her journey back home. She first reached Delhi from Rajasthan and then travelled through Ranchi before returning to Gumla on Sunday. After reaching home, she informed her family about the alleged trafficking and abuse. She subsequently approached Bishunpur police station along with her family and submitted a written complaint. Police have registered a case on the basis of the complaint and initiated an investigation. The roles of the women allegedly involved in taking the minor to Delhi and Rajasthan, along with the other accused, are now under investigation. Further action is expected based on the evidence collected by the police.
