Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has stepped up political activity ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. During a press conference at the party office in Lucknow, several leaders from western Uttar Pradesh joined the SP. Rajpal Saini, Harbir Malik and other political figures were welcomed into the party. The event also saw Akhilesh launch a sharp attack on the BJP and the Election Commission, accusing them of working together to manipulate elections. These allegations have not been independently established.
Several Leaders From Western UP Join SP
The press conference witnessed the entry of several leaders into the Samajwadi Party, including former candidate Siwan Saini, Rajpal Saini, Pawan Saini, BJP state working committee member Harbir Malik, Shubhendra Acharya, Sanjeev Pradhan, Rajendra Malik, Vijendra Malik, Shubham Malik and Rajnendra Singh. SP MP Iqra Hasan was also present at the event. The party is looking to strengthen its presence in western Uttar Pradesh, a politically important region ahead of the next Assembly elections.
Harendra Malik Promises Faster Sugarcane Payments
SP MP Harendra Malik said young people from the PDA community and distressed farmers were looking towards Akhilesh Yadav for support. He claimed that if the Samajwadi Party formed the government in Uttar Pradesh, sugarcane farmers would receive their payments within 24 hours. Malik also expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the upcoming elections. The promise puts farmers’ concerns and pending sugarcane payments at the centre of the party’s political messaging.
Black Pots Used to Target BJP
The Samajwadi Party displayed black pots at its office, with slogans referring to alleged vote theft, temple theft and GST-related issues. Akhilesh Yadav said the pots symbolised the alleged wrongdoings of the BJP and claimed they were now full. He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of conspiring to manipulate votes. The display was part of the party’s wider campaign against alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the election process.
Akhilesh Alleges Duplicate Voter Entries
Akhilesh presented a young man identified as Vikas Yadav and claimed that 10 voter entries had been created in his name. He alleged that one vote belonged to the individual while the other nine could be used for manipulation. Akhilesh also criticised the Election Commission, using a mocking term to accuse it of hiding serious errors. These claims were made by the SP chief during the press conference; the information provided does not independently verify the alleged duplicate entries.
PDA Workers Told to Resist Alleged Vote Manipulation
Akhilesh Yadav also criticised the BJP’s proposal for simultaneous elections, arguing that the party wanted to carry out alleged vote manipulation on a larger scale. He referred to the proposed Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls and used wordplay involving the RSS to attack the BJP. He said PDA supporters would oppose any attempt to manipulate elections. With the 2027 Assembly polls approaching, the SP is making voter-list concerns, farmers’ issues and the PDA coalition key parts of its political campaign.
