Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has announced that his party will release its manifesto for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on November 26, 2026. The announcement is significant as political activity begins to intensify ahead of the state elections. Akhilesh has described the document as the “PDA Prann Patra,” signalling that the party intends to keep its focus on backward classes, Dalits and minorities. He shared the announcement on social media platform X, calling it a pledge for 2027 and saying the manifesto would be released on Constitution Day.
Why November 26 Matters
November 26 is observed as Constitution Day in India, marking the adoption of the Constitution in 1949. Akhilesh has linked the manifesto announcement to the occasion, describing it as an important democratic moment. In his message, he referred to the document as a manifesto for the people and their aspirations. The timing gives the Samajwadi Party an opportunity to connect its election promises with themes of constitutional values, equality and representation. However, the party has not yet disclosed the detailed promises that will feature in the manifesto.
PDA Strategy After the 2024 Elections
The PDA strategy focused on Pichhde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak communities, or backward classes, Dalits and minorities has been central to the Samajwadi Party’s political messaging since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party won 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh in that election, strengthening its position in the state. Akhilesh is now looking to build on that performance ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls. The upcoming manifesto is expected to reflect the party’s political priorities, although its specific proposals will become clear only when the document is released.
Party Welcomes Leaders From Different Backgrounds
The Samajwadi Party has also been bringing leaders from backward and Dalit communities into its organisation, including leaders who previously belonged to other political parties. Akhilesh has said that the PDA includes people who face discrimination or injustice and that their concerns should be heard. In public meetings, he has repeatedly accused the BJP government of failing to protect the interests of Dalits and backward communities. He has promised that a Samajwadi Party government would work to ensure dignity and respect for these groups. These statements form part of the party’s wider political campaign.
Gen Z and Employment Issues in Focus
Alongside its PDA outreach, the Samajwadi Party is also trying to connect with younger voters, including members of Generation Z. Employment, recruitment examinations and paper leaks have become important issues in political debates involving young people. The party has supported protests related to these concerns in recent months. By raising such issues, Akhilesh is seeking to broaden the party’s appeal beyond its traditional voter base. The manifesto could provide a platform for presenting proposals on jobs, education and recruitment, though the party has not yet announced its detailed commitments.
PDA Praharis and Voter List Concerns
The Samajwadi Party has also appointed workers described as “PDA Praharis” at the booth level to monitor voter lists and raise concerns about alleged irregularities, including suspected bogus votes. The initiative reflects the party’s focus on electoral participation and the accuracy of voter records. As the 2027 elections approach, the manifesto announcement is likely to become an important part of the party’s campaign planning. The central question now is which specific promises Akhilesh Yadav will include in the PDA Prann Patra when it is released on November 26.
