The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of a protest march against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Central Delhi on Friday, October 23. The demonstration, organised by Left parties and student leaders, began near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, with protesters planning to march towards Jantar Mantar. The demonstrators are demanding the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation and the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. According to the traffic advisory, diversions are scheduled to remain in effect from 1 PM to 5 PM, with commuters warned of possible congestion and delays in central parts of the capital.

Roads Affected and Traffic Diversions
The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Connaught Place, Parliament Street and Jantar Mantar during the specified hours. The movement of a large number of protesters towards Jantar Mantar is expected to affect traffic flow on nearby roads. Commuters have been asked to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time to reach their destinations and use alternative routes wherever possible. Traffic personnel will be deployed to manage movement and guide motorists through diversions. Citizens have also been urged to follow official traffic updates and instructions issued by police personnel to minimise inconvenience.

Separate Advisory for Astha Kunj Park and Nehru Place
The traffic police has also issued instructions for commuters travelling near Astha Kunj Park, Nehru Place and adjoining roads during a scheduled programme in the area. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards the venue, use alternative routes where feasible and refrain from roadside or unauthorised parking. Motorists should follow traffic signs, diversion arrangements and directions issued by traffic personnel. The police has requested public cooperation to ensure smoother traffic movement and reduce congestion around the affected locations. Commuters travelling through Central Delhi or near Nehru Place are advised to check the latest official traffic updates before leaving.
