A disturbing case involving the deaths of two young children has emerged from the Nehru Nagar area of Andhra Pradesh. According to police, 10-year-old Satvik and his eight-year-old sister Nitya allegedly died after consuming food suspected to have been contaminated with a poisonous substance. Their stepmother, Mary, and father, Rambabu, have been arrested in connection with the case. Investigators suspect that a family property dispute may have been a motive behind the alleged crime.

Family Dispute Allegedly Led to Growing Tensions

According to information shared during the investigation, Rambabu married Swarna in 2015. The couple had two children, Satvik and Nitya. Swarna died by suicide in 2022 amid family difficulties. Rambabu subsequently married Mary, who also has a son from her previous marriage. Police investigators suspect that tensions developed within the household over family property. Mary allegedly feared that Rambabu's assets could eventually benefit his children from his first marriage. Investigators are examining whether this dispute played a role in the events that followed.

Children Fell Ill After Eating Chicken Biryani
According to the police investigation, the children were allegedly served chicken biryani containing rat poison on October 20. They reportedly survived the first incident. Police suspect that another attempt was subsequently made. After consuming food during the Dussehra festivities, both children reportedly became unwell and began vomiting. They were taken to hospital, where they died on October 24. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding both incidents and the allegations that the deaths were initially presented as food poisoning.

Constable's Suspicion Prompted Further Investigation
The unusual circumstances surrounding the children's deaths reportedly raised suspicions for Constable Veeraiah Chowdhary of the Kothapet police station. Further examination was ordered, and investigators reportedly found evidence pointing towards poisoning. Police subsequently searched Rambabu's residence and allegedly recovered rat poison. According to investigators, questioning helped uncover details of the suspected conspiracy. Mary and Rambabu were then arrested in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against both accused will be subject to the legal process.
