A political controversy has erupted in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh after BJP MLA Brijbhushan Rajput allegedly slapped a government seed warehouse in-charge during an inspection. The incident took place in Charkhari, where the MLA claimed to have exposed the alleged black marketing of free chickpea seeds meant for farmers. According to the report, around 100 sacks of government-supplied seeds were being loaded into a pickup vehicle late on Wednesday night. After receiving information about the movement, Rajput reached the spot and questioned warehouse in-charge Sonu Yadav. A video showing the MLA slapping the official has since circulated on social media.

100 Sacks of Free Seeds Found in Pickup

The seeds had reportedly been supplied by the government for free distribution among farmers. According to the allegations, Sonu Yadav and his associates were loading the sacks into a pickup vehicle at night for unauthorised sale. When the MLA arrived, he questioned the warehouse in-charge about the movement of the seeds and asked for an explanation and relevant documents. The report says Yadav could not provide a satisfactory response. The incident prompted the MLA to accuse those involved of misusing supplies intended for farmers. However, the allegations of black marketing will need to be established through the investigation.

‘You Are Working With Akhilesh Yadav’

During the confrontation, Rajput reportedly accused the warehouse in-charge of being aligned with Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav. The MLA became angry during the exchange and slapped Yadav. The video of the incident has attracted attention online, bringing both the alleged diversion of government supplies and the MLA’s conduct into public discussion. The incident has also raised questions about the way elected representatives intervene during inspections. While the MLA claimed to have caught irregularities involving government seeds, the physical confrontation has become a separate focus of the controversy.

Agriculture Officials Reach the Spot

Following the incident, agriculture department officials and police reached the warehouse area. According to the report, the action was taken under the directions of the deputy director of agriculture. Acting district agriculture officer B.C. Vishwakarma arrived with police personnel to examine the matter. During the inspection, around 100 sacks of chickpea seeds were reportedly recovered from the pickup vehicle. Their estimated value was placed at between ₹4 lakh and ₹5 lakh. Officials took possession of the vehicle and the recovered seeds as part of the investigation into the alleged unauthorised movement of government supplies.

Complaint Filed Against Three People

The acting district agriculture officer submitted a complaint at Charkhari police station seeking legal action against Sonu Yadav and two associates. Police reportedly took the pickup vehicle, the seeds and three people into custody as the inquiry began. Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances in which the seeds were loaded, the documents related to their storage and distribution, and the alleged role of each person involved. The case concerns supplies intended for farmers, making the investigation important for determining whether government resources were diverted from their stated purpose.

Investigation Continues Amid Viral Video

The incident has put the spotlight on alleged irregularities in the distribution of government agricultural supplies in Mahoba. The recovered seeds and the complaint submitted by agriculture officials are central to the case. At the same time, the viral video of the MLA slapping the warehouse in-charge has drawn attention to the confrontation itself. The allegations against the warehouse staff remain subject to investigation, while the available report does not establish the final findings of the case. Police and agriculture officials will need to establish how the seeds were being transported and whether the movement violated the rules governing their distribution to farmers.
