The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new WhatsApp service for employees. Through this facility, users can now check their PF balance, access their passbook and view details of their last five transactions from the comfort of their homes. However, some users are facing difficulties soon after the launch. People have complained on social media platform X that they are not receiving OTPs on WhatsApp. Others are encountering errors while trying to access their PF balance and passbook.

New Service Launched On November 1
EPFO launched the new WhatsApp service on November 1, 2026, on the occasion of its 74th Foundation Day. The objective is to make essential PF-related information easily accessible to employees. Users will no longer need to visit the EPFO website or go to an office for routine account-related information. They will be able to access details of their PF accounts directly through WhatsApp. The initiative is expected to save employees time and make EPFO services more convenient.

Some Users Not Receiving OTPs, Others Face Errors
Some users who have tried the new service have shared their complaints on X. They say that after initiating the service on WhatsApp, they are not receiving OTPs on their mobile phones. Meanwhile, some users are unable to access their information even after selecting the options to check their PF balance and passbook. Several users are seeing error messages on their screens. However, it is not yet clear whether the issue is affecting all users or only a limited number of people.

Essential PF Account Details Available From Home

Under EPFO’s new facility, employees will be able to check their PF account balance through WhatsApp. They can also access their passbook and details of their last five transactions. Earlier, employees had to rely on the EPFO website or other channels to obtain this information. The new service aims to make the process easier through WhatsApp. However, technical issues reported during the initial days have prevented some users from taking full advantage of the facility.

Try Again After Waiting For Some Time
If you are also facing OTP or error-related problems while accessing PF information through WhatsApp, you can try again after some time. Technical issues can occur during the initial days of a newly launched service. However, the report does not mention any specific technical malfunction officially confirmed by EPFO in response to these complaints. Therefore, it is also unclear when the problems will be resolved.

EPFO WhatsApp Helpline Started In 2020
EPFO first introduced WhatsApp-based assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At that time, a helpline was launched to address employees’ complaints and queries. The service was initially introduced at selected regional offices in May 2020 and had been extended to all 138 regional offices across the country by October 13, 2020. Earlier, the facility was primarily used to register complaints and receive answers to queries. Now, additional features have been introduced, allowing users to check their PF balance, passbook and transaction details.
