A Delhi court has issued fresh bailable warrants against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case dating back to 2018. The complaint was filed by Vikas Sankrityayan, who alleged that Rathee defamed him in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel. Judicial Magistrate Rahul Jain issued the warrants after the complainant raised concerns over the failure to serve court notices. A detailed court order is yet to be released.

Fresh Warrants Issued After Notice Could Not Be Served

The latest warrants follow an earlier order issued on October 17. At that time, an official assigned to serve the notice reportedly informed the court that Rathee’s residence was locked. The court has now issued another summons to Rathee at an address in Gurugram, Haryana, as proceedings in the case continue.

Defamation Complaint Dates Back to 2018

According to the complainant’s lawyer, Samaksh Sharma, Rathee generally resides in Austria and had travelled to India to participate in protests in Delhi organised by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP). The court noted that Rathee was first summoned in July 2019 in connection with the case. The complaint originated in 2018 after Rathee uploaded a video about Sankrityayan on his YouTube channel.

How Arvind Kejriwal Became Involved
The video was also shared on social media by Arvind Kejriwal, who was the Chief Minister of Delhi at the time. Sankrityayan subsequently initiated defamation proceedings against both Rathee and Kejriwal, alleging that the video harmed his reputation. Kejriwal later acknowledged before the court that sharing the video had been a mistake, and his matter was resolved separately. The proceedings against Rathee remain a separate part of the case.
