A 35-year-old man has died after allegedly being stabbed by a street food vendor following a dispute over an order of chole bhature in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area. The victim, identified as Sandeep, was reportedly attacked after asking for extra chickpeas to be packed with food he had purchased for his children. He was taken to hospital for treatment but died on Wednesday. Police have arrested the alleged attacker, identified as Chintu Gupta, and added murder charges to the case following the victim’s death.

Dispute Began at a Sunday Market
According to reports, Sandeep, a resident of Nihal Vihar who worked as a driver for a private company, visited the Sunday market in Jwalapuri with his friends on Sunday night. After eating chole bhature, he ordered another portion to take home for his two children, a four-year-old son and a ten-year-old daughter. When he noticed that the packed food contained what he considered an insufficient quantity of chickpeas, he reportedly asked the vendor for some extra. An argument followed and allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Victim Sustained Multiple Stab Wounds

Police reports indicate that the vendor allegedly attacked Sandeep with a knife, stabbing him seven times, including three wounds to the abdomen. When Sandeep’s father, Brajesh Singh, reached the scene after being informed of the incident, he reportedly found his son seriously injured near the food stall. Family members first took Sandeep to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital before transferring him to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh. Despite medical treatment, he died on Wednesday.

Police Arrest Suspect, Add Murder Charges

Following Sandeep’s death, Paschim Vihar police intensified the legal action and added murder charges to the case. The alleged attacker, Chintu Gupta, has been arrested. Police officials said Sandeep had lost a significant amount of blood and was not in a condition to provide a statement. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and whether anyone else was involved.

Family Seeks Further Investigation
Sandeep’s father has expressed concern that other people may have participated in the assault. Speaking outside the hospital mortuary, Brajesh Singh said his son had told him that five or six people had attacked him, and questioned why only one person had been arrested. His statement has raised questions about the possible involvement of others, although their role has not been established. Police have said the investigation is ongoing and that all relevant aspects of the case are being examined.
