iFixit Opened the Phone to Find Possible Reason
When iFixit, a famous repairing and gadget analysis website, opened and inspected this phone, it was revealed that dust getting trapped on the hinge failing to function properly, abnormal pressure is exerted on the flexible screen when the phone is folded. This increases the risk of the screen breaking. However, the report also notes that these are isolated, early-stage cases, and it would be premature to conclude that every unit is affected by this problem.
How Much Will it Cost if the Screen Breaks?
The starting price for this foldable phone is ₹2,99,900. If the phone is out of warranty, the estimated cost to replace the internal screen can be as high as ₹1,49,900, That means replacing the screen could cost almost half the initial price of the phone. However, it is not necessarily the case that every customer will have to pay this amount for a damaged screen. If an inspection reveals that the defect resulted from a manufacturing issue that occurred during normal use, the phone may be eligible for repair or replacement under its one-year limited warranty.
