Karwa Chauth celebrations took an unexpected turn in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when two unusual relationship disputes reached the Mandhana police outpost. In the first incident, three women married to the same man got into an argument over who would perform the first puja and break the fast first. In another case, a young woman insisted on breaking her Karwa Chauth fast at her boyfriend’s house. Both incidents kept the local police busy on the festival evening.

How One Man Ended Up With Three Wives

The first incident took place in a village under the Bithoor police station area. According to the report, the man’s first wife had no children after several years of marriage. She reportedly took the initiative to arrange her husband’s second marriage with a friend. The second wife later gave birth to a daughter. Meanwhile, the man secretly married a third woman as well. On Karwa Chauth, the third wife suddenly arrived at the house, leading to an argument among all three women.

Argument Over Who Would Perform the First Puja

The dispute began when the three women started arguing over who would first worship their husband, see his face and break the fast. The disagreement soon escalated and reached the Mandhana police outpost. Two of the women continued arguing inside the police outpost, while the third remained outside. Even after coming out, the women reportedly resumed their heated exchange on the road. The unusual dispute attracted attention from people in the area.

Three Wives Finally Agree to Celebrate Together

After considerable arguments and police intervention, the three women reportedly reached a mutual understanding. They decided to sit together, perform the Karwa Chauth rituals and break their fast at the same time. This brought the immediate dispute to an end. However, Bithoor police station in-charge said he was not aware of any formal complaint related to the incident. The episode became one of the most unusual stories reported from Kanpur during the festival.

Girlfriend Reaches Police Outpost to Break Her Fast

The second incident took place in a locality of Bithoor, where a young man and woman living opposite each other had reportedly been in a relationship for several years. Their families initially opposed the relationship because they were minors. The couple later began living together in a rented room. After becoming adults, the young man reportedly approached his family about marriage, but his family again refused. On Karwa Chauth, the woman kept a fast for him and reached the Mandhana police outpost with her boyfriend.

Family Finally Agrees to Their Marriage

The woman clearly told the police that she wanted to break her fast at her boyfriend’s house. The young man also requested police protection so that he could take her home. After hours of discussions between the police and both families, the boyfriend’s relatives finally agreed to the marriage, according to the report. The woman then went to his house and broke her fast there according to the traditional rituals. The second dispute ended with both families reportedly agreeing to the relationship.
