The triple murder in Saadatganj, Lucknow, reportedly stemmed from a neighbourhood dispute that began nearly 10 years ago. The long-running feud between the Shukla and Tiwari families had flared up several times, with arguments and physical clashes reported in the past. Despite police intervention on earlier occasions, the dispute remained unresolved. The latest confrontation ended in the deaths of Shivaji Tiwari, his son and his brother, turning a long-standing neighbourhood rivalry into a devastating crime.
How a Platform Became the Centre of Conflict
According to reports, Shivaji Tiwari and Rishabh Shukla lived near each other in the Naubasta area under Saadatganj police station. A banyan tree stood close to their homes, and Shivaji reportedly wanted to build a raised platform beneath it. Rishabh’s family opposed the plan, leading to repeated disagreements between the neighbours. Over time, the argument over the platform became a source of continuing bitterness between the two families.
Police Intervention Failed to End the Feud
Local residents said the dispute repeatedly escalated into arguments and physical confrontations. Police reportedly arrived on previous occasions, but residents alleged that the matter was settled through forced compromises rather than a lasting resolution. The underlying tension continued, and the families remained at odds. The latest violence reportedly followed another confrontation on Monday over parking a vehicle beneath the same banyan tree, bringing the old dispute back to the centre of attention.
Argument Escalates Into Fatal Shooting
According to the account of the incident, an argument broke out between the two sides over the parking issue. The confrontation quickly intensified, and Rishabh allegedly went inside his house, returned with a pistol and opened fire. Shivaji Tiwari, his son and his brother were killed in the shooting. Police arrested Rishabh Shukla in connection with the case. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the attack and the events that led to the fatal confrontation.
Shivaji Tiwari’s RSS Background
Shivaji Tiwari was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and had previously served as a Sah Zila Karyawah, according to RSS worker Sunny Sahu. He was also a retired employee of the electricity department and was regarded by associates as an active member of the organisation. Sahu described him as someone who generally maintained a calm nature and stayed away from disputes. News of his death has reportedly caused grief among members of the RSS community.
Wedding Preparations Cut Short
The tragedy has also cast a shadow over the family’s personal celebrations. Shivaji’s son Suyash was scheduled to get married on December 5, and preparations were reportedly underway at home. Invitations were being distributed among relatives and acquaintances. Suyash also ran a shop selling electrical equipment, according to the report. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jitendra Srivastava said the accused had been arrested and the case was under investigation. The shooting has left the family facing a devastating loss just weeks before the planned wedding.
