India’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma has returned to the No. 1 position in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, released on Wednesday. His sensational 113-run innings against New Zealand in Wellington played a major role in his rise to the top. Abhishek scored his century in just 35 balls during the third T20 International, helping India secure a six-wicket victory. This is the second time he has reached the top of the T20I batting rankings. He previously held the position from 2025 until June 2026.
Ishan Kishan Drops to Third Place
Abhishek’s return to the top has pushed fellow Indian batter Ishan Kishan down to third place. Kishan had held the No. 1 position for around four months before losing the spot in the latest rankings update. The change highlights the impact of Abhishek’s recent performances against New Zealand. His aggressive batting has once again established him as one of the most influential players in T20 International cricket.
Sanju Samson Also Makes Progress
Several other players have improved their positions following the ongoing India-New Zealand series. Indian batter Sanju Samson has climbed to 20th place in the T20I batting rankings. New Zealand’s Finn Allen has moved from 28th to 25th, while Glenn Phillips has climbed 20 places to reach 37th. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner has gained seven places to reach seventh among T20I bowlers. India’s Arshdeep Singh has moved up six places to 15th, while Indian bowler Prince Yadav has climbed 19 places to 82nd.
Brook and Duckett Rise in ODI Rankings
The latest ICC Men’s ODI rankings have also seen significant movement. England batters Ben Duckett and Harry Brook have each gained six places, reaching seventh and eighth, respectively. Duckett scored 105 runs against Pakistan, while Brook smashed a record-breaking double century against Sri Lanka, becoming the fastest batter to reach 200 runs in the ODI format. Despite their individual performances, both innings came in matches their teams lost.
Jansen Dominates Test Bowling Rankings
South African all-rounder Marco Jansen has made major gains in the Test rankings following his team’s dominant victory over Australia by an innings and 31 runs. His performances included a determined 85-run innings and bowling figures of five wickets for 33 runs and one wicket for 34 runs. Jansen has risen to the top of the Test bowling and all-rounder rankings, while also climbing 13 places to 56th among Test batters. He has become the first South African bowler to reach the top of the Test bowling rankings since Kagiso Rabada in November 2024.
Temba Bavuma Climbs to Career-Best Second
South African captain Temba Bavuma has also enjoyed a significant rise in the Test batting rankings after scoring 179 runs in a match-winning performance. He has climbed four places to reach a career-best second position, behind England’s Harry Brook. Australia fast bowler Scott Boland has moved up three places to sixth among Test bowlers after taking five wickets for 81 runs.
