Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has created history during the fourth T20 International against New Zealand in Auckland. He completed 150 T20I wickets after dismissing New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner. With this achievement, Arshdeep became the first Indian bowler to reach the 150-wicket mark in men's T20 International cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is next among Indian bowlers with 126 wickets. However, the milestone was only part of Arshdeep's remarkable performance, as he also broke three major world records during the match.
Most T20I Wickets in a Calendar Year
Arshdeep has become the bowler with the most T20 International wickets in a single calendar year. He has taken 40 wickets in 2026, moving ahead of Ireland's Josh Little, who claimed 39 wickets in 2022. This achievement highlights Arshdeep's consistency and his growing importance in India's T20 bowling attack. His ability to take wickets regularly has made him one of the team's most effective options in the shortest format.
Fastest Pacer to Complete 150 T20I Wickets
The Indian left-arm pacer has also set a new record for reaching 150 T20I wickets in the fewest deliveries among fast bowlers. Arshdeep achieved the milestone in just 2,143 balls. Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman previously held the record, having taken 2,532 deliveries to reach 150 wickets. Arshdeep's achievement puts him ahead of other leading fast bowlers in terms of deliveries required to reach this landmark.
Breaks Wanindu Hasaranga’s World Record
Another major achievement came in the time Arshdeep took to reach 150 T20I wickets after making his international debut. He completed the milestone just 1,577 days after his debut. Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga previously held this record, having taken 2,325 days to reach the same mark. Arshdeep has therefore set a new benchmark for the fastest completion of 150 T20I wickets in terms of calendar days.
New Zealand Posts a Massive Total of 259 Runs
The fourth T20I also witnessed a huge batting performance from New Zealand. The hosts scored 259 runs in their 20 overs, putting considerable pressure on the Indian bowling attack. Despite the expensive total, Arshdeep's milestone became one of the biggest talking points of the match. His dismissal of Santner not only completed his 150 T20I wickets but also helped him enter the record books with three additional achievements.
Arshdeep Strengthens His Position in Indian Cricket
Arshdeep's latest records underline his rise as one of India's leading T20 International bowlers. Becoming the first Indian to take 150 wickets, setting the calendar-year record and reaching the milestone faster than other pacers are significant achievements in his career. Completing 150 wickets in just 1,577 days also demonstrates how quickly he has established himself at the international level. His performance has added another memorable chapter to India's T20 cricket history.
