The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new digital facility to make it easier for salaried employees to access their Provident Fund (PF) details. With this initiative, employees will no longer need to visit the EPFO website every time they want to check their PF balance or access account-related information. They can now use WhatsApp to get essential details about their PF accounts. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the new service on November 1, 2026, during the 74th Foundation Day celebrations of EPFO. The initiative aims to make PF-related services more accessible and convenient for millions of subscribers.

Which WhatsApp Number Should You Contact?
To use this facility, employees need to send a 'Hi' or 'Hello' message from their WhatsApp account to EPFO's official number, +91 8796441800. Once the message is delivered, an automated chatbot will initiate the conversation. Users will then have to follow the instructions provided by the system and complete the required identity and UAN-related verification. After successful verification, a list of available services will appear on the screen. Employees can select the relevant option to access their PF account information without visiting an EPFO office.

Check PF Balance and Access Passbook Details
The new WhatsApp facility is designed to provide more than just the total balance available in an employee's PF account. Subscribers can also access their PF passbook details and check information about their previous five transactions. This will help employees keep track of contributions made by themselves as well as their employers. It will also make it easier to monitor whether the monthly PF contributions are being deposited regularly. The facility is particularly useful for employees who frequently need information about their retirement savings.

PMVBRY Scheme Information Also Available
EPFO's WhatsApp-based services are not limited to PF balance enquiries and passbook access. The platform will also provide guidance and assistance related to the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY). Through this initiative, employees and eligible beneficiaries can access information about the scheme and its related procedures. The move is part of EPFO's broader efforts to expand digital services and reduce the need for people to visit offices for routine enquiries. It is expected to make government-related employment services easier to access.

Stay Alert Against Cyber Fraud While Using the Service
While using the new facility, employees should remain cautious about online fraud. They should contact EPFO only through its official WhatsApp number and avoid responding to suspicious messages or unknown links. Users must never share their OTP, UAN password, banking credentials or other confidential information with anyone. If they face any difficulty accessing their PF details through WhatsApp, they can also use the official EPFO portal or the UMANG application. The new initiative is expected to make PF-related services faster, simpler and more convenient for millions of salaried employees across the country.
