Gold Silver Price Crash : A sharp decline in gold and silver prices has caught the attention of investors as well as ordinary buyers. Precious metals, which have been under pressure for the past few days, are now witnessing a rapid fall in prices. On Friday, silver recorded a decline of more than Rs 10,000, while gold became cheaper by over Rs 4,000 in a single day. Looking at the weekly figures, silver has fallen by approximately Rs 17,000 per kilogram. Gold prices have also dropped by thousands of rupees. These developments have sparked fresh discussions in the market about the future direction of precious metal prices.
US Economic Data Raises Market Concerns
Signals from the US economy are being considered an important reason behind the decline in gold and silver prices. Inflation figures in the United States remain above the Federal Reserve's target of 2%. This has increased market concerns about the possibility of interest rates being raised or maintained at elevated levels. When interest rates rise, the attractiveness of investment options such as gold and silver, which do not offer regular interest payments, tends to decline. As a result, precious metals are facing pressure in international markets.
Major Single-Day Fall Recorded on MCX
On Friday, both gold and silver recorded sharp declines on the domestic futures market, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). The price of 10 grams of gold fell by more than Rs 4,000 to Rs 1,38,419. Meanwhile, silver prices dropped by over Rs 10,000 to Rs 1,78,900 per kilogram. The decline has surprised investors who had been expecting gold and silver prices to continue rising in recent weeks.
Gold and Silver Become Cheaper Within One Week
On October 23, silver was trading at approximately Rs 1.95 lakh per kilogram on the MCX. It has now fallen to around Rs 1.78 lakh. This represents a decline of approximately Rs 17,000 in just one week. Similarly, gold prices have dropped from around Rs 1.42 lakh per 10 grams on October 23 to approximately Rs 1.38 lakh. Friday's sharp decline further increased the weekly losses in both precious metals.
Prices Fall Significantly Below Record Highs
The recent decline in precious metal prices can also be understood by comparing them with their previous record levels. According to the available figures, silver had reached a record high of approximately Rs 4.20 lakh per kilogram in January. Its price has now fallen to around Rs 1.78 lakh. Similarly, gold has declined from a high of approximately Rs 1.93 lakh per 10 grams to around Rs 1.38 lakh. In Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold was reported at Rs 1,38,440 per 10 grams, while silver was priced at approximately Rs 2 lakh per kilogram. However, prices may vary across different cities and markets.
