LPG Price Update: LPG consumers across India have received an important price update at the beginning of November. Oil marketing companies review and revise cooking gas prices on the first day of every month, depending on market conditions and other factors. This time, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged, offering some relief to household consumers. However, the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased, bringing additional costs for hotels, restaurants and other businesses. Consumers are now keen to know the latest prices of both 14.2 kg domestic and 19 kg commercial cylinders and how the changes will affect their monthly expenses.
Domestic 14.2 Kg LPG Cylinder Prices Remain Unchanged
There has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders for November. In Delhi, a 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder is priced at Rs 942, while consumers in Mumbai are paying Rs 941.50. The price in Kolkata stands at Rs 968, whereas Chennai consumers have to pay Rs 957.50. In Meerut, the domestic LPG cylinder continues to cost Rs 939.50. This means household consumers will not have to pay any additional amount for their regular cooking gas refill this month, providing some relief amid rising household expenses.
19 Kg Commercial LPG Cylinder Becomes More Expensive
Unlike domestic LPG, commercial gas cylinders have become costlier from November 1. The price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi has increased to Rs 2,820 from the earlier rate of Rs 2,810, marking a hike of Rs 10. In Mumbai, the new price stands at Rs 2,775, while Kolkata has recorded a rate of Rs 2,971. In Chennai, commercial LPG is now priced at Rs 2,994.50. In Meerut, the latest price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has reached Rs 2,824.50, following an increase of Rs 9.50 compared with the previous month.
Why Are LPG Prices Reviewed on the First Day of Every Month?
Oil marketing companies review LPG prices by considering several factors, including international energy market trends, global LPG prices and fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Domestic and commercial cylinders are subject to different pricing considerations. Domestic LPG rates are influenced by government policies and consumer-related factors, while commercial cylinder prices are more directly affected by international market movements. This explains why domestic cooking gas prices sometimes remain unchanged even when commercial LPG becomes more expensive or cheaper.
How Will the Latest LPG Price Changes Affect Consumers and Businesses?
The increase in commercial LPG prices could raise operating expenses for restaurants, hotels, roadside eateries and catering businesses. If these additional costs continue, businesses may eventually consider adjusting the prices of food items and services. For household consumers, however, the unchanged price of the 14.2 kg cylinder is a positive development. It offers temporary relief from additional cooking fuel expenses. Consumers should also remember that LPG prices can vary from city to city due to local taxes and other charges. Therefore, checking the latest city-wise rates before booking a refill is always advisable.
