Kanpur Bullet Train Station : A major update has emerged for the people of Kanpur regarding the bullet train project. MP Ramesh Awasthi has said that efforts are underway to include Kanpur in the proposed high-speed rail corridor. A proposal has been made to build a separate, modern station in the city. The MP has suggested locations near Atal Ghat or a station accessible through an underground tunnel within the city. However, the final location has not yet been decided. Technical studies and surveys are currently underway.

Station Proposed Near Atal Ghat
Sharing information on social media, MP Ramesh Awasthi said he had proposed building the bullet train station at a location that would be easily accessible to residents. Options include setting up the station around Atal Ghat or exploring an underground route to connect it with a station within the city. According to him, public convenience should be the priority while selecting the location. These are currently only proposals and are yet to receive final approval.

Train To Reach Kanpur Via Agra From Delhi
According to the proposed route, the bullet train will depart from Delhi and travel through Agra, Kanpur and Lucknow before continuing further. It may then pass through Ayodhya, Varanasi and Patna before heading towards Guwahati. According to the MP, efforts have been made to modify the earlier route to connect Agra directly with Kanpur and then Lucknow. The corridor could provide faster connectivity between several major cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi To Kanpur Journey In 1 Hour 45 Minutes
The project is expected to save passengers considerable travel time once completed. According to the proposed estimates, the journey from Delhi to Agra could take around 59 minutes. Travelling from Delhi to Kanpur may take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The distance between Delhi and Varanasi could be covered in around 3 hours and 33 minutes. These timings are based on proposed project estimates. Actual journey times will become clear only after the final operating plan and timetable are announced.

Separate Infrastructure From Existing Railway Stations
Bullet train tracks and technology are different from those used by conventional trains. Therefore, separate high-speed stations and tracks will be developed for the project. This could also help reduce passenger pressure on existing railway stations. The project is expected to prioritise the Make in India initiative. Track pillars and other essential components are planned to be manufactured in factories according to prescribed standards to maintain construction quality and speed up the work.

Station Location To Be Finalised After Survey
Technical studies are currently underway, including a detailed survey of the entire corridor, finalisation of the route and identification of exact station locations. Only after this process will it become clear whether the Kanpur station will be built near Atal Ghat or at another location within the city. The construction timeline and official station location will also be announced only after final approval. For now, the locations mentioned by the MP should be considered proposals rather than confirmed decisions.
