The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for several parts of India as active weather systems over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea raise the likelihood of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Southern and eastern coastal regions are expected to face the greatest impact, while cooler winds are bringing a hint of winter to northern India.

According to the forecast, a cyclonic system over the west-central Bay of Bengal could intensify into a severe cyclonic storm around October 25–26. Another low-pressure area is active over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep region, increasing the possibility of widespread rainfall in parts of southern India. Residents in vulnerable coastal areas have been advised to remain alert and follow official weather updates.

Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and North India Weather Forecast
Northern India is beginning to experience cooler conditions following the withdrawal of the monsoon. The IMD has forecast isolated rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand on October 25, with another possibility of scattered showers around October 30. Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir may also receive snowfall, while Himachal Pradesh could see light rain on October 25.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi may experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms on October 28–29. Western Uttar Pradesh could receive rainfall on October 29–30, while parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience heavy rain during the same period.

In Rajasthan, the partial influence of a western disturbance could bring isolated light showers or drizzle on October 25. Eastern Rajasthan may also receive rain on October 29–30.

Heavy Rain Alert for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka

Southern India is expected to experience significant rainfall over the coming days.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible on October 24–25. Tamil Nadu reportedly received more than 21 cm of rainfall in the preceding 24 hours.

Kerala and Mahe: Heavy rainfall is forecast for October 25–26.
Karnataka: Some areas may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Lakshadweep: Widespread rainfall is likely under the influence of the low-pressure system over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining areas.

People in areas prone to flooding and waterlogging should monitor local advisories and take appropriate precautions.

Cyclonic System May Bring Heavy Rain to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha
The developing system over the Bay of Bengal could bring extremely heavy rainfall to coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 27–28. Several parts of Odisha and Telangana may also experience intense rainfall around October 28.

Odisha is forecast to receive heavy to very heavy rain on October 27 and 29. Coastal communities have been advised to remain cautious as the weather system develops and conditions over the sea may deteriorate.

The IMD has warned that wind speeds over the Bay of Bengal could reach 70–80 kmph, with gusts up to 90 kmph, by the morning of October 26. From October 27, strong winds of 40–50 kmph are possible along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

Rough sea conditions and high waves could create hazardous conditions for marine activities. Fishermen and coastal residents should follow official warnings and avoid venturing into unsafe sea conditions.

Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds in Central India
Central India may also see a spell of unsettled weather later in the week. Western Madhya Pradesh could receive isolated rainfall from October 28–30, while eastern Madhya Pradesh may experience showers on October 28.

Vidarbha is forecast to receive rain on October 27 and October 29–30, while Chhattisgarh could experience rainfall from October 27–30. The period around October 28–29 may bring particularly intense weather, with heavy rainfall possible across several areas of these regions.

Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, potentially reaching 60 kmph, along with lightning, are forecast in parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and eastern Madhya Pradesh between October 27 and 29. Heavy rain is possible in Chhattisgarh on October 27, in Vidarbha on October 28, and in parts of Chhattisgarh on October 28–29. Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may also see heavy rainfall on October 29.

Residents should remain alert to local warnings, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding, lightning and strong winds.

IMD Advises Caution as Weather Systems Develop
With multiple weather systems active over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, conditions may change rapidly over the next several days. Heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas could disrupt transport and normal activities in affected regions.

People are advised to follow the latest IMD bulletins and local administration instructions. Coastal residents should pay particular attention to warnings regarding strong winds and sea conditions, while those in areas expecting heavy rainfall should take precautions against waterlogging and local flooding.
