Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that caste divisions weaken society, while shared faith and culture bring people together. In a message posted on social media platform X, he described Ayodhya's Deepotsav as a strong example of social unity. He said the festival brings people from different backgrounds together through their shared devotion and cultural traditions. According to the Chief Minister, the message of Deepotsav goes beyond religious celebrations and highlights the importance of building a united society.
A New Beginning in 2017
Yogi Adityanath said that before 2017, governments that used caste divisions as a political tool ignored the cultural traditions that could unite society. He said the BJP government changed this approach by starting the Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya in 2017. Since then, the festival has grown into a major public event that showcases the cultural heritage of the holy city. He added that the double-engine government has turned Ayodhya's traditions into a celebration involving people from across society.
Deepotsav Brings Everyone Together
The Chief Minister highlighted the participation of different sections of society in the festival. He said religious leaders, students, sanitation workers, potters and traders take part in Deepotsav with equal enthusiasm and devotion. According to him, the event gives everyone an opportunity to celebrate together. He stressed that a person's identity during the festival is not decided by caste, but by their participation in the celebrations. This, he said, reflects the spirit of social harmony.
Message of Shared Faith and Culture
In his message, Yogi said that shared faith and culture have the power to connect people beyond social divisions. He described Deepotsav as an occasion where people come together despite differences in their backgrounds. He also said that the festival reflects the idea of a society where everyone has an equal place. The Chief Minister presented Ayodhya's celebrations as an example of how cultural events can strengthen bonds among people.
The Light of Diyas Unites Society
Yogi Adityanath used the example of diyas to explain the message of unity. He said that lamps may be lit by different people, but their light spreads across society. According to him, this shared light represents the spirit of togetherness that Deepotsav stands for. He said the festival sends a message of harmony and gives strength to the idea of a society where people stand together.
PM Modi and Saints Mentioned
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and respected saints in shaping the celebrations. He said their guidance has helped give Deepotsav a wider identity. The festival now brings together people from different professions and sections of society on a common platform. Yogi described this participation as the real strength of the event and said its message of unity should reach every part of society.
