The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a political offensive against the Congress and the INDIA bloc through its 'Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy' foot march in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The march was led by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary, NDA allies, MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders. The march began at Maharana Pratap Inter College and passed through Kachahari Chowk, Indira Bal Vihar crossing and Golghar Kali Temple before reaching the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During the event, Nitin Nabin launched sharp attacks on Rahul Gandhi and the opposition, while Yogi Adityanath criticised Congress over its stand on EVMs and the voter list revision exercise.

Nitin Nabin Attacks Rahul Gandhi, Makes Strong Political Remarks
Addressing the gathering, BJP president Nitin Nabin accused Rahul Gandhi of misleading the people of the country. He said India was moving forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and claimed that 140 crore citizens considered Modi their leader and 'Pradhan Sevak'. Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and the Nehru-Gandhi family, Nabin remarked that so-called political heirs would continue to come and go, but Narendra Modi would lead the country with the support of its people. He also described Rahul Gandhi as a 'failed rocket' and criticised opposition leaders over their political approach.

BJP President Questions Opposition's Public Support
Nabin also referred to the opposition's programme at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi and claimed that it failed to attract the crowd the organisers had expected. He said the BJP and its NDA partners were organising foot marches across districts and towns, demonstrating public support for their campaign. He further alleged that opposition leaders were becoming unsettled by these programmes. Nabin also brought up the Allahabad High Court's historic judgment concerning former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's election and the Emergency imposed in 1975. He questioned Congress over its record on democracy and demanded an apology for the Emergency. He also accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of disrespecting the Constitution and Dr BR Ambedkar.

Yogi Adityanath Targets Congress Over EVMs and Election Results

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also criticised Congress and the INDIA bloc during the public meeting. Referring to opposition protests in Delhi, he alleged that their activities were creating disorder and threatening democratic institutions. Yogi said the opposition claimed credit when it won elections but blamed Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) whenever it lost. He questioned why Rahul Gandhi continued to take an oath as a Member of Parliament if he believed that EVMs were unreliable. Yogi argued that the opposition's position on EVMs appeared to change according to election results.

SIR Exercise Becomes Another Point of Political Confrontation

Yogi Adityanath also targeted Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He claimed that Congress had supported voter list revision exercises in the past but was now opposing the process. According to the Chief Minister, the exercise aims to identify and remove names of deceased individuals and ineligible foreign nationals from electoral rolls. He argued that accurate voter lists were necessary to protect the electoral rights of eligible Indian citizens, particularly disadvantaged communities. Yogi also demanded that Congress explain its opposition to the exercise. The BJP leaders used the Gorakhpur march to intensify their criticism of the Congress and the INDIA bloc.
