CERT-In Alert: India’s cyber security agency, CERT-In, has made a shocking revelation, stating that hackers are continuously using AI. The agency recently issued this warning to banks and non-banking financial institutions stating that cyber attackers are continuously targeting the banking sector. According to reports, these attacks are being carried out with the objective of financial gain. In these, hackers are taking the help of AI agents, due to which systems are being targeted at machine speed.
Countries around the world are preparing for defense
Most countries around the world are engaged in preparing to deal with these attacks. They are making all kinds of preparations from their end. Many countries arounf the world, including the US and UK, are trying to bring AI regulation and reduce the threat posed by it. Among these, India is also engaged in preparing to defend against these attacks in its own way.
Indian banks are being targeted
Reports indicate that during testing, AI models breached the live systems of several organizations in India and successfully read records surreptitiously without anyone knowing. Incidents of cyber attacks have increased in India in recent times. Data of 3,900 customers of the country's largest bank, SBI (State Bank of India), was also leaked.
Software vulnerability proving costly
Many experts point out that hackers often catch vulnerabilities in outdated software or take advantage of misconfigured IT systems to breach a company’s data. They then target the Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) used for payments within automated fund disbursement systems.
