The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Dipke, has announced its support for the opposition’s proposed rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. Dipke has called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the Election Commission has lost public confidence in its ability to ensure free and fair elections. The announcement comes as the Congress and the INDIA bloc intensify their campaign over alleged electoral irregularities and their criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly raised allegations of “vote theft” and demanded accountability from the Election Commission. Dipke’s announcement adds another voice to the opposition’s campaign ahead of the planned demonstration in the national capital.
Dipke Questions Election Commission’s Credibility
In a post on social media platform X, Dipke said Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation was necessary to restore public confidence in the independence and credibility of the Election Commission. He alleged that the SIR exercise had undermined trust in the institution’s ability to conduct impartial elections. Dipke also argued that the Commission must protect every eligible citizen’s right to vote rather than create obstacles to exercising that right. He said the CJP would support organisations working towards free and fair elections in India. These statements reflect Dipke’s position on the ongoing controversy surrounding electoral roll revisions. The allegations against the Election Commission remain a subject of political debate, and the Commission’s role in maintaining accurate voter lists continues to attract scrutiny from opposition parties.
Delhi Police Approves Rally With Conditions
The Delhi Police has reportedly granted permission for the November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan, subject to several conditions. Organisers have been instructed to ensure that crowds do not spill outside the designated ground and that the gathering concludes by 5 pm. No one will be permitted to remain at the venue overnight. The conditions also include installing high-definition CCTV cameras across the ground, establishing a control room with five screens and ensuring that speeches from the stage do not contain inflammatory remarks. The organisers will be required to comply with these directions during the event. The rally is expected to focus on the opposition’s allegations concerning electoral processes and its demand for accountability from the Chief Election Commissioner.
Opposition Leaders Prepare for November 1 Protest
According to the report, opposition MPs have been asked to reach Delhi before 1 pm on October 30. A mock parliamentary exercise is also planned at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, where opposition leaders intend to stage a symbolic public impeachment of Gyanesh Kumar. The proposed exercise is a political protest rather than a formal constitutional impeachment proceeding. The Congress-led INDIA bloc has been using public meetings and political demonstrations to highlight its concerns over voter registration and electoral fairness. With the rally scheduled for November 1, attention will be on the participation of opposition parties, the issues raised by speakers and compliance with the conditions imposed by the Delhi Police.
