Traffic movement across several parts of east Delhi is expected to remain slow until October 20 due to Ramlila and Durga Puja celebrations. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning commuters about possible congestion, particularly between 7 pm and 11 pm, when large numbers of visitors are expected to gather at festival venues. The movement of devotees, pedestrians and people visiting entertainment attractions could lead to delays on roads surrounding the celebrations. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow additional travel time and consider alternative routes wherever possible. The advisory covers multiple stretches under the Eastern Range Traffic jurisdiction, including busy roads, market areas and routes connecting residential neighbourhoods with metro stations. Motorists travelling during the evening peak hours may face interruptions, especially near major celebration grounds and areas where crowds are expected to gather.

Several Key Roads in East Delhi Likely to Face Congestion
According to the traffic advisory, affected stretches include Khudiram Bose Marg between Ami Chand Chowk and Block 26 in Trilokpuri, Ghazipur Road from Holiday Inn red light to Star City Mall, and the service road near the railway overbridge at Akshardham in Ganesh Nagar. Traffic may also slow down between Pandav Nagar underpass and Acharya Niketan Market via Patparganj village, along Delhi Police Apartments Road, and on the stretch from Dallupura to Noida Mode. The road connecting Mayur Vihar Phase III with New Ashok Nagar Metro station is also among the identified locations. Other potentially affected areas include the route from Murga Mandi to Khoda Colony near Paper Market in East Ghazipur, Ghazipur Road near DDA Park at the Integrated Freight Complex, Road No. 57A between Hasanpur T-point and NH-24, Swami Dayanand Marg (Road No. 57), Patparganj Road, Madhu Vihar Road and Sai Chowk. Vikas Marg and Raja Ram Kohli Marg may also experience slower traffic.

Traffic Advisory Covers Shahdara and Other Areas
The police have also identified several stretches in Shahdara and other parts of east Delhi where festival-related gatherings could affect vehicle movement. These include Road No. 58, also known as Surajmal Road, near CBD Ground in Shahdara, and Road No. 71 near the Ramlila Ground opposite Vivek Vihar police station. Road No. 68 near the GTB DDA Ground, GTB Hospital Pusta in Sonia Vihar and roads around Veer Savarkar Hospital in Karawal Nagar are also covered by the advisory. Authorities have urged commuters to remain alert, follow traffic police instructions and check for updates before setting out. With celebrations continuing through October 20, residents and office-goers travelling across east Delhi during the evening hours should expect possible delays and plan their routes accordingly.
