A shocking murder case in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, has taken a major turn after police arrested the main accused, Ram Ashish Yadav, following an encounter. Gudia Vishwakarma, who was pregnant, was found murdered inside government quarters at the Rudrapur Community Health Centre (CHC) on the night of October 25. According to the police investigation, she was allegedly strangled and attacked with a hammer. The case initially led to a dowry death complaint against several members of her marital family, but investigators later uncovered an alleged contract killing plot.

Family Members Named in the Complaint

Following Gudia’s death, her maternal family filed a complaint naming her husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law, along with others. A case related to dowry death was registered. During the investigation, police examined the circumstances of the killing and the possible involvement of other people. Their inquiry reportedly led them to Ram Ashish Yadav, a resident of the Gagaha area in Gorakhpur, who is accused of carrying out the murder in exchange for money.

Murder Deal Allegedly Fixed at ₹3 Lakh

According to police, the investigation revealed that Satya Prakash Yadav, who is also from the Gagaha area, allegedly planned the murder in coordination with family members. The alleged deal was fixed at ₹3 lakh, with Ram Ashish Yadav and his associate Naresh reportedly hired to carry out the attack. Police said Ram Ashish had already received ₹2.5 lakh in cash before the crime. He was allegedly on his way to collect the remaining ₹50,000 when the police operation took place. Investigators are continuing to examine the roles of those involved in the alleged conspiracy.

Police Encounter in Rudrapur

Deoria Superintendent of Police Ajit R. Shankar said Rudrapur police were conducting routine checks on the morning of October 27, 2026, when they signalled two men riding a motorcycle to stop. According to the police account, the suspects opened fire and attempted to flee. During the chase, their motorcycle skidded, causing them to fall. They allegedly fired again, prompting police to retaliate in self-defence. Ram Ashish sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was arrested.

One Suspect Escapes, Search Underway

After the encounter, Ram Ashish was taken to the Community Health Centre in Rudrapur for treatment. His associate reportedly escaped by taking advantage of the darkness. Police have launched a search to locate the absconding suspect. Investigators are also working to establish the complete sequence of events, verify the alleged payment arrangements and determine the role of each person connected with the case.

Investigation Continues Into the Conspiracy

The murder took place inside government accommodation linked to the Rudrapur CHC on October 25. According to the police investigation, the accused allegedly entered the house and killed Gudia that night. Her sister-in-law, Purnima, reportedly informed the emergency response service by calling 112. The case has raised serious questions about the circumstances behind the killing of a pregnant woman and the alleged involvement of people known to the family. Police are continuing their investigation as the hunt for the remaining suspect proceeds.
