Delhi to Bihar Festival Special Trains : With just five days left until Diwali, passengers preparing to return home are facing one major challenge: getting confirmed train tickets. Waiting lists have become lengthy on most trains running from Delhi to Bihar. This has left many travellers wondering how they will reach their hometowns during the festival. However, despite the shortage of tickets, several alternatives are available. From festival special trains operated by the Railways to the Tatkal quota, passengers have multiple options to consider.

Vande Bharat Special Can Take You To Patna
The Vande Bharat Festival Special train is one option for passengers travelling from Delhi to Bihar. It operates between New Delhi and Patna. Train number 02252 departs from New Delhi at 8:35 am and reaches Patna at 9:30 pm. The train offers both Chair Car and Executive Chair Car facilities.

Major Stations Where The Train Stops
The special train has scheduled stops at Aligarh, Kanpur Central, Prayagraj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Buxar and Ara. This makes it a useful option for passengers travelling to these cities or nearby areas. According to the available information, the train will operate until November 25 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Keep An Eye On Festival Special Trains
Considering the additional rush of passengers during Diwali and Chhath, the Railways has introduced several festival special trains for different cities in Bihar. These include trains departing from Delhi and Anand Vihar. Therefore, if tickets are unavailable on regular trains, passengers should check the list of special trains operated by the Railways and look for available seats.

Tatkal Tickets Could Be Another Option
If a confirmed ticket is unavailable under the general quota, Tatkal booking can also be considered. Tatkal reservations open one day before the date of travel. Tickets for AC classes can be booked from 10 am, while bookings for non-AC classes begin at 11 am. However, the number of seats under this quota is limited, and high demand can cause tickets to sell out quickly.

Look For Travel Options From Nearby Stations
If tickets are unavailable for the destination station, passengers can also search for seats to nearby stations. For example, travellers heading to Siwan can check tickets to Chhapra, Patna or Sonpur. From there, they can complete the remaining journey by bus, another train or other available transport. Choosing this break-journey option may increase their chances of reaching home in time for Diwali.
