Ramky Infrastructure Limited has been chosen as the preferred bidder. With an estimated cost of ₹1,947 crore, the project is expected to strengthen the state’s textile and garment industries.
Mega Textile Park Expected to Create One Lakh Jobs
The mega textile park is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for around one lakh skilled and unskilled workers. It will promote units involved in textile manufacturing, garment production, fashion technology and exports. This could create new employment opportunities for local youth. Weavers, textile manufacturers and businesses associated with the apparel industry may also benefit from the development.
Project to Be Developed Under PM MITRA Scheme
The project is called the PM MITRA Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park. It is being developed under the Central Government’s PM MITRA scheme. A total of 1,000 acres of land has been allocated for the project. The state government has leased the land to the relevant special-purpose company for 99 years at a nominal annual rate of ₹1 per acre. The government expects the project to attract investment from domestic and international companies.
Central Government to Provide Up to ₹500 Crore
The project has an estimated cost of ₹1,947 crore. According to the state government, the Central Government will provide financial assistance of up to 30% of the project cost, subject to a maximum of ₹500 crore. The park will be developed and operated through PM MITRA Park Uttar Pradesh Limited. The Uttar Pradesh government holds a 51% stake in the company, while the Central Government holds the remaining 49%. The master developer was selected following technical and financial evaluations.
Facilities Planned From Factories to Logistics
Modern infrastructure will be developed to meet the needs of the textile industry. Planned facilities include ready-built factory sheds, connectivity to a six-lane road, electricity supply, water infrastructure, internal roads, a common boiler, an incubation centre, warehouses and logistics hubs. A skill development institute will also be established to train workers according to industry requirements. These facilities could help companies begin production and transport goods more efficiently.
Facilities Planned for Women Workers and Safety
Environmental protection will also be a priority at the park. A common treatment plant based on zero liquid discharge technology will be developed to treat and reuse industrial wastewater. Additional facilities will include worker accommodation, secure hostels and healthcare centres. Special attention will also be given to safe accommodation for women workers. The project will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model with a concession period of 50 years, including a five-year construction period.
