Meerut has been shaken by a series of murder cases in which wives were accused of conspiring to kill their husbands, with alleged lovers also facing charges. Two cases have recently drawn widespread attention after courts sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla, as well as Ravita and her lover Amardeep, to death for their respective crimes. Meanwhile, three other cases involving Anjali, Komal and Damini remain under trial. The allegations in these cases have shocked many, but the final verdicts are still awaited in the three pending matters.

Anjali Accused of Plotting Husband’s Murder

In the case from Agwanpur village in Meerut’s Parikshitgarh area, Rahul was shot dead on November 1, 2025. Rahul worked in farming and animal husbandry and had three sons with his wife, Anjali. According to the police investigation, Anjali allegedly had a relationship with their neighbour, Ajay. Investigators alleged that she called Rahul to a spot near a temple outside the village on the night of the murder. Ajay allegedly arrived there and shot Rahul three times. The case is now before the court, which will decide the charges against the accused.

Komal Accused in BSF Soldier’s Murder Plot

Another case concerns BSF soldier Nain Singh, who was also from Agwanpur village. Police announced a breakthrough in the case on April 4, 2026, and arrested his wife, Komal, her cousin Gulshan and three other accused. According to the police investigation, Komal allegedly conspired with Gulshan to have her husband killed. Investigators alleged that a contract worth ₹6 lakh was arranged for the murder and that Komal raised money by pawning her jewellery. The accused were sent to jail, but the allegations remain subject to the ongoing legal process.

Damini Case: Insurance Money and a Venomous Snake

The murder of school operator Atul Kumar, 32, came to light on July 17, 2026. Atul lived in a rented house in Hastinapur with his wife, Damini, and their two children. Police alleged that Damini was involved in a relationship with Tushar Payla, a driver associated with her school, and that the two planned Atul’s murder. According to investigators, the alleged motive involved a ₹20 lakh insurance claim and starting a new life together. Police claimed Atul was given sleeping pills before a venomous krait snake was brought into the bedroom with the help of two snake handlers, Sonu and Uday. The case is still subject to court proceedings.

Ravita and Amardeep Sentenced to Death

The murder of Amit Kashyap in Akbarpur Sadat village took place on April 12, 2025. According to the investigation, Amit’s wife, Ravita, allegedly conspired with her lover, Amardeep, to kill him. Investigators said Amit was strangled and the scene was allegedly staged to make his death appear to have resulted from a snakebite. After examining the evidence, the court sentenced Ravita and Amardeep to death on October 16, 2026. The case became widely discussed because of the alleged attempt to disguise the murder as a natural death caused by a snakebite.

The Blue Drum Murder That Shocked the Country

The case involving Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla became one of Meerut’s most widely discussed murder cases. Saurabh Rajput was killed on March 3, 2025, in the Brahmpuri area. According to the prosecution, Muskan and Sahil killed Saurabh, cut his body into five pieces and placed the remains inside a blue drum filled with a cement mixture to conceal the crime. On October 14, 2026, a sessions court sentenced both to death after finding them guilty of murder and related offences. The trial reportedly involved more than 126 hearings and testimony from 22 witnesses. With three other cases still pending, attention now remains on the courts’ decisions in the matters involving Anjali, Komal and Damini.
