The investigation into the death of Shiva Sharma has taken a new turn, with absconding accused Shraddha Dubey reportedly traced to a city in Uttar Pradesh near the Nepal border. While police teams continue searching for her across Nepal and adjoining areas, Shraddha has been releasing videos on social media claiming innocence and attempting to present the case as a suicide. According to police sources, the videos appear to have been recorded inside the same hotel room. Following fresh inputs about her possible location, a Lucknow Police team has reportedly been dispatched to the suspected city. Meanwhile, another lead suggested that Shraddha might surrender before a court by noon. Police increased security around the court premises, but no surrender documents had been filed by 1 pm, according to the information available.
Police Track Her Movements From Bahraich to Nepal
According to police sources, Shraddha allegedly left after Shiva Sharma's death on October 9, accompanied by her sister Rashmi and driver Danish. They were reportedly travelling in an Audi fitted with a Secretariat entry pass. Investigators have not yet established the whereabouts of that vehicle. However, Shraddha's Scorpio SUV was subsequently found abandoned in Bahraich, where police reportedly obtained their first significant lead about her movements. Her next reported location was Pokhara, Nepal, on October 10. Since then, investigators have reportedly struggled to obtain fresh CCTV footage or GPS data that could establish her exact whereabouts. Police are examining the available leads to reconstruct the movements of the three individuals and determine how they crossed between India and Nepal.
Gorakhpur Emerges as a Possible Hiding Place
Police sources suspect that Shraddha, Rashmi and Danish may have returned to India after an alleged plan to travel from Nepal to Dubai was cancelled at the last moment. They are believed to have taken shelter in a hotel in a major Uttar Pradesh city close to the Nepal border. Gorakhpur is being considered a possible location, although this has not been officially confirmed by the police. The videos released by Shraddha are believed to have been recorded at the same hotel. In these clips, she reportedly denies responsibility for Shiva's death and argues that the incident should be treated as a suicide. She has also claimed to have provided certain material to the police that she believes supports her version of events. Investigators have not publicly verified these claims, and her statements remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Multiple Teams Continue Search; Surrender Speculation Grows
According to the information attributed to police sources, several teams have been assigned to trace Shraddha. The operation reportedly involves personnel from Hazratganj Police Station, the Special Operations Group (SOG), surveillance units and the Special Task Force (STF). Surveillance personnel are examining CCTV footage and attempting to establish her movements through available location data. The operation is reportedly being monitored by DCP Central Vikrant Veer. A non-bailable warrant has also reportedly been issued, increasing the possibility of her arrest if she is located. Sources have suggested that a surrender could lead to further legal proceedings and renewed examination of the suicide theory. However, any suggestion that Shraddha could become a prosecution witness remains speculative unless confirmed by the investigating authorities or a court. Police have not yet issued a detailed official statement confirming her latest location, the alleged surrender plan or the claims made in her videos.
