A powerful explosion on a railway track in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district has raised serious concerns over railway security. The blast reportedly took place near village 50 GB on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway route, shortly after a passenger train had passed through the area. Fortunately, no train was present at the spot when the explosion occurred, and no casualties have been reported so far. Following the incident, police, railway officials and security agencies rushed to the site and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blast.

Railway Track Infrastructure Damaged in Explosion
According to preliminary information, two cement pillars beneath the railway track near village 50 GB in the Sri Vijaynagar area were severely damaged in the explosion. The impact was reportedly so powerful that iron rods embedded inside the concrete structures were exposed. Some damage to the railway infrastructure has also been reported. The Anupgarh-Suratgarh passenger train had reportedly crossed the area at around 8:30 pm, while the explosion took place at approximately 10:30 pm. This means the blast occurred nearly two hours after the train had passed through the section.

Police and Forensic Teams Collect Evidence

Taking the incident seriously, Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Harishankar Yadav visited the site to assess the situation. Police personnel and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also reached the location and began collecting evidence. Investigators are examining the nature of the explosion and trying to determine whether an explosive substance was used. Officials are also examining other possible causes. However, the exact reason behind the blast and the identity of those responsible have not yet been officially established.

Train Services Affected After Security Inspection
Following the explosion, railway authorities initiated an inspection of the affected track to ensure passenger safety. As a precautionary measure, the Anupgarh-Bathinda train scheduled to depart at 6 am was cancelled. Railway officials are assessing the condition of the track and related infrastructure before allowing normal operations to resume. Security has also been tightened in the surrounding areas, while police are questioning local residents and gathering information about any suspicious activities reported near the railway line.

Border Location Raises Security Concerns
Sri Ganganagar's proximity to the international border has made the incident particularly sensitive from a security perspective. The explosion has also attracted attention because of the recent recovery of approximately 7.5 kilograms of RDX in the border region. However, the police have not established any direct connection between the two incidents so far. Investigating agencies are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of sabotage. The exact nature of the explosion and the motive behind it will become clear only after the forensic examination and investigation are completed.
