Why Have Ghee And Butter Prices Increased?
Rising demand and supply shortages are being cited as reasons behind the increase in ghee prices. Following action against adulterated ghee in Gujarat and Rajasthan, customers have reportedly started showing greater preference for branded ghee. According to the report, around two lakh kilograms of fake ghee have been seized from different areas of the two states over the past six months. This has reportedly increased demand for ghee from trusted brands.

Kitchen Expenses May Rise During Diwali
Consumption of ghee increases during festivals as households prepare sweets, savoury snacks and various traditional dishes. According to the report, around 45% of the total annual ghee consumption takes place during the festive season. Rising demand ahead of Diwali is putting additional pressure on supplies. Reports of shortages of Amul cow ghee have also emerged in some markets. As a result, higher ghee and butter prices could affect festive household budgets.
