Weather Update: Delhi is witnessing a noticeable change in weather conditions as winter gradually approaches. While temperatures are beginning to drop during the early morning and late-night hours, rising air pollution has become a major concern for residents. The national capital recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 324 on November 2 at 4 PM, placing it in the 'Very Poor' category. Following the deterioration in air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented Stage 2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR. Residents may now have to deal with a combination of increasing pollution, morning fog and falling temperatures.

Delhi-NCR Air Quality Deteriorates as AQI Crosses 300
Air pollution levels in Delhi have increased significantly over the past few days. According to available air quality data, the city's average AQI stood at 117 on October 31 before rising to 261 on November 1. The situation worsened further on November 2, when the reading reached 324. An AQI between 301 and 400 falls under the 'Very Poor' category and can cause respiratory discomfort, particularly among people with existing health conditions. Children, elderly residents and individuals suffering from asthma or heart-related problems are especially vulnerable to prolonged exposure to polluted air.

GRAP Stage 2 Implemented to Control Rising Pollution
With pollution levels continuing to rise, CAQM has activated Stage 2 of GRAP in Delhi-NCR. The measures include increased mechanical road sweeping, regular water sprinkling and the use of anti-smog guns at identified locations. Authorities have also been directed to strengthen traffic management, prevent unnecessary congestion and ensure strict compliance with pollution-control guidelines at construction sites. Residents are being encouraged to use public transport, adopt carpooling and avoid unnecessary use of private vehicles to help reduce vehicular emissions.

Morning Fog and Falling Temperatures to Affect Delhi Weather
According to the India Meteorological Department's forecast, Delhi is likely to experience mainly clear skies on November 3, although shallow fog or mist may occur during the morning hours. The minimum temperature is expected to remain around 16 degrees Celsius, while the maximum may reach approximately 29 degrees Celsius. On November 4, the minimum temperature could fall further to around 15 degrees Celsius. Early mornings and late evenings are likely to feel colder, while daytime sunshine may provide some relief from the changing weather conditions.

Delhi's Pollution Levels Likely to Remain a Concern
The air quality forecast for Delhi indicates that pollution levels may remain in the 'Very Poor' category between November 3 and November 5. Air quality is also expected to remain within the 'Poor' to 'Very Poor' range over the following days. Weather conditions, wind speed, moisture levels and local pollution sources will play an important role in determining how quickly the situation improves. Residents are advised to monitor daily AQI updates, limit prolonged outdoor activities during periods of high pollution and take necessary precautions to protect their health.
