PM VBRY Scheme : Young people starting their first jobs may have an opportunity to receive financial assistance under a government employment scheme. Under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), eligible employees can receive an incentive of up to Rs 15,000. The benefit is intended for people becoming members of the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) for the first time and meeting the prescribed conditions. However, simply getting a job does not automatically guarantee the full amount. Eligibility depends on factors such as employment duration, salary and EPF records.

How Much Can You Receive?
Under the first component of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, eligible first-time EPF members may receive an incentive equivalent to one month's eligible EPF wages. The maximum amount is Rs 15,000. This does not mean every employee will receive the full amount. The actual payment will depend on eligible wages and the scheme's rules. Young employees should therefore check their EPF membership and salary-related details.

Who Is Eligible for the Scheme?
The benefit may be available to eligible employees who become EPF members for the first time. Their previous EPF membership records are important for determining eligibility. According to the available information, an employee's monthly salary must not exceed Rs 1 lakh, and other conditions under the scheme must also be fulfilled. The scheme covers eligible jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027. Starting a job during this period alone is not sufficient.

Six-Month and Twelve-Month Conditions
To qualify for the first instalment, an employee must complete six consecutive months of employment. EPF membership and other eligibility requirements must also be fulfilled. The second instalment requires completion of 12 consecutive months of employment. In addition, the employee must complete the prescribed financial literacy programme. Therefore, working for one year alone does not guarantee the second instalment. Employees should check the official portal for the latest instructions and documentation requirements.

How Will the Money Reach Your Bank Account?
Eligible employees will receive the incentive through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into an Aadhaar-linked bank account. The Aadhaar Bridge Payment System will be used for the transfer. It is therefore important to ensure that Aadhaar and bank account details are accurate. The second instalment should not automatically be treated as immediately withdrawable cash, as the scheme's provisions may require the amount to be held in an eligible savings instrument or deposit account for a specified period.

Employers Can Also Receive Incentives
The scheme also provides incentives to eligible employers, in addition to benefits for new employees. Companies may receive up to Rs 3,000 per month for each additional eligible employee, subject to the prescribed conditions. Employers must complete the required EPF procedures and submit the necessary electronic challan-cum-returns. Young people starting their first jobs should keep their Universal Account Number (UAN), EPF records, bank details and employment duration updated to help avoid difficulties when claiming benefits.
