Gold Silver Price Today : Gold and silver prices rose on October 19, 2026, on the occasion of Mahanavami, recovering some ground after a sharp decline last week. Prices increased across major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai. Both precious metals also traded higher on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Buyers planning to purchase jewellery or silver during the festive season should check the latest rates before making a decision, as prices vary across cities and can change during the trading day.
Gold and Silver Rates on MCX
On Monday, December gold futures on the MCX were trading at ₹1,48,438 per 10 grams around 11:20 am, up ₹520 or 0.35% from the previous close of ₹1,47,918. December silver futures climbed ₹1,133, or 0.54%, to ₹2,12,320 per kilogram. Silver had closed at ₹2,11,187 per kilogram in the previous trading session. The gains indicate a recovery after last week’s steep losses, although market prices remain sensitive to global economic developments.
How Much Did Prices Fall Last Week?
Despite Monday’s recovery, gold and silver had recorded significant losses during the previous week. MCX December gold futures fell by ₹3,581, or 2.4%, over the week, ending at around ₹1.47 lakh per 10 grams. Silver futures dropped by ₹14,568, or 6.4%, to approximately ₹2.11 lakh per kilogram. The sharp decline had put pressure on precious metal prices before buying interest returned on Monday.
Why Are Gold and Silver Prices Rising?
Stronger global market signals and reduced expectations of an immediate US Federal Reserve interest-rate increase have supported precious metals. Comments attributed to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh reportedly pushed the market’s expectation of an October rate hike below 20%. However, concerns linked to inflation data have kept the possibility of a December rate increase alive. Investors are also watching the Federal Open Market Committee meeting scheduled for October 27–28. Tensions between the United States and Iran are another factor influencing gold prices.

Pure 24-carat gold contains a higher proportion of gold, while 22-carat gold is commonly used to make jewellery. The rates listed above are retail reference prices and may vary by jeweller. The final cost of gold jewellery can be higher because of making charges and applicable taxes. Buyers should confirm the latest local rate before purchasing, particularly during the festive season when prices may fluctuate.
