Veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi after developing a chest infection. The 98-year-old leader was brought to the hospital at around 7:30 pm on Friday. According to the hospital’s health bulletin, he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His condition is reported to be stable, and doctors are closely monitoring his health. The news of his hospitalisation has drawn attention to the health of one of the BJP’s most senior leaders.

Doctors Monitoring His Condition Closely

Apollo Hospital confirmed that Advani is receiving treatment for a chest infection. He is under the care of Dr Vinit Suri, a senior consultant in neurology, according to the hospital statement. Medical teams are keeping a close watch on his condition and providing the necessary treatment. Although he remains in the ICU, the hospital has described his condition as stable. The latest update offers some reassurance, but his treatment and monitoring are continuing under medical supervision.

JP Nadda Visits the Veteran Leader

Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader JP Nadda visited Apollo Hospital after Advani was admitted. During the visit, Nadda met the veteran leader and enquired about his health. Advani has played a major role in shaping the BJP’s political journey over several decades, making news about his health a matter of interest for party workers and political observers. The hospital has not indicated any immediate change in his condition in its latest update.

PM Modi Met Advani Earlier This Month

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met Advani at his residence in New Delhi on October 7, around a week before his hospitalisation. During the meeting, Modi sought Advani’s blessings as he marked 25 years as the head of a government. The interaction highlighted the long association between the two BJP leaders. Modi has often acknowledged Advani’s influence on his political journey and his contribution to the party’s growth over the years.

Modi Praises His Contribution to India

After meeting Advani, Prime Minister Modi shared a message on social media platform X, praising his decades of public service. Modi said Advani had left a lasting impact on public life and played an important role in strengthening the country’s progress. Advani remains one of the BJP’s most influential leaders, having helped expand the party’s national presence. His political career has included several important positions in the Union government and within the organisation.

A Long Career in Indian Politics

Advani served as India’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 and held key portfolios, including Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister. He also served multiple terms as BJP national president and was elected to the Rajya Sabha four times and the Lok Sabha seven times. His role in building the BJP into a major national political force remains a significant part of his legacy. For now, the focus remains on his recovery as doctors continue to monitor his health in the ICU.
